Team Unlimited and FIRST LEGO League

Given that our peak season for FTC is the winter/spring, each fall sees Team Unlimited focusing on various mentoring and community activities.  As senior members of the Sharon Youth Robotics Association (SYRA), working with the eight SYRA FLL teams is a major priority.  Recruiting, orientation and training, especially for the rookie teams, starts in August.

The weekly meetings, when all the SYRA FLL teams get together, are a key activity.  The first half hour is reserved for the rookie teams, for mentoring and questions.  The general meeting covers news and topics of note, followed by table practice and competition.  Run-offs for table competition are held before each tournament, determining who will represent the SYRA.  These table competition sessions work to train our senior members for referee duty at the state competitions as well.

After running our internal FLL Invitational competition, we supply refs (and often head refs) to FLL qualifying tournaments on close to a weekly basis, through to the MA state championship.  We also take hundreds of photos during the competitions, which get posted at www.syraweb.org so that teams and parents can review their experiences.

Our Recent Events page will have info and pictures for these activities!

It was a great season - and Team Unknown (one of our rookie SYRA FLL teams) will be headed to the US FLL Open competition in Dayton Ohio in May!
